Mountain biking is a wonderful thing.  It’s even better when you can share it with your kids.  This Saturday, October 5th is IMBA’s ‘Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day‘.

Bring The Kids has a good post that goes into more detail on why IMBA created Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day.  For Saturday, IMBA’s interactive map shows all events for the day.

Of course, there’s also the option of just going for a bike ride with your kids on Saturday. Bring some fun snacks for the ride, the camera to capture the moment, and make it a personal event.

There is something magical about watching your kids riding past the trailhead and into the woods

The day is for mountain biking, but there are lots of things that could be considered mountain biking.  It could be a short singletrack trail, a few loops around a pump track, or even a multi use gravel trail.  Heck, I’d even say riding in the neighborhood counts since it still involves kids riding bikes.

So go ahead and take the kids on a ride.  Make it a relaxed, fun day and they’ll have a great time (especially when there are snacks at the end).  Who knows, they may turn into a cycling nut!  We can definitely use more of those.

About Andy Amick
A little bit nutty in general, a lotta bit nutty about bikes. Each of his boys received a bike helmet for their first birthday and the three of them have been biking together ever since.
