Happy Friday – Some Links From The Week

Happy Friday.  No need to stay here.  Go explore a few of the articles and products that have caught my eye this week.

Andrew Skurka – Interview with GoLite Founder Demetri Coupounas – GoLite, based out of Boulder, CO, has changed their retail model to only sell from their direct stores.  The kicker is that their prices are now 50% lower.  Demetri talks about this change and the direction GoLite is headed.  I visited the local store in  Castle Rock last weekend and their new pricing model makes high quality lightweight gear very affordable.

Zen Habits – How to Beat Stressful Work – A great post from Leo Babauta about an overly exhaustive, stressful week and how he worked through it.  We’ve all been through those weeks before.  Leo’s tips for combating the stress are easy to follow, but hard for us to slow down and implement.

CountyComm Brass Flint Wheel Sparker – A tiny brass firestarter that measures 1.5″ long.  Not sure how well it works, but it would be a nice addition to any small emergency kit, especially those contained in the Altoids type tins.  At $5, I’ll be buying one of these with my next County Comm order.

CountyComm Brass Flint Wheel Sparker for only $5 and 1.5 inches long

One Hundred Pushups – Yes, cyclists can and should do some pushups.  This site helps you work towards doing 100 consecutive pushups. Being able to knock out 100 pushups would do wonders for mountain bike singlespeeders – those long standing climbs would be a little bit easier.

Enjoy the Memorial Day weekend.  Get out and do some cycling, hiking, or camping.  Don’t forget to take a moment to think about the holiday itself and the sacrifices others have made for us.

About Andy Amick
A little bit nutty in general, a lotta bit nutty about bikes. Each of his boys received a bike helmet for their first birthday and the three of them have been biking together ever since.
